LOST –

»When the present war broke out & I was again on the rocks – I wrote to Lord H[oward] de Walden & after some months, he sent a cheque for £20. In return I sent him a long Legend for Cello (or Bass Clarinet which he plays) and piano. I sent this registered post and – it has never been acknowledged. In any case its value was far more than £20. I think You can weigh up the thing for yourself.« – HB writing to Reginald Nettel, August 1944
